United Boxing Promotions and DAZN sign a big international and domestic broadcast deal.

Ontario’s own United Boxing Promotions lands a big deal that will bring more eyes to Canadian boxing talent nationally and internationally.

United Boxing Promotions

UBP is a Canadian professional boxing promotion based in the province of Ontario. UBP was founded in 2010 and have gone on to become known on an international scale. They currently have 11 fighters signed to the their promotion. UBP doesn’t just help professional boxers, they also provide support to amateur boxing programs. They also provide assistance to start-up promotional companies.

You can see more about the fighters and their stories here.

UBP also has a partnership with the CAA Centre (Canadian Automobile Association) who provides a luxurious venue that can seat 5000 attendees, and a restaurant that overlooks the venue fitting 250 guests. It is a great venue that sees over 1.2 million people a year with it’s concerts, graduation ceremonies, tradeshows and live sport events.

Canadians getting exposure on bigger markets

This multi-fight domestic and international partnership will make DAZN the exclusive broadcaster for UBP championship fights in Canada and 180+ markets globally. To kick off their partnership DAZN will be broadcasting UBP’s Double Header weekend card that takes place back-to-back on Friday September 9th, and Saturday September 10th live at the CAA Centre and on-demand for DAZN subscribers. Two championship fights will be taking place for those events.

More eyes for the athletes

This is great deal for athletes as well, with sponsorship and signage agreements. Be it the fighter can market themselves in the limelight and through their social media. It is in this time the athletes can make their careers grow outside of boxing with a partnership like this, UBP having DAZN broadcast internationally and nationally. Athletes can use their time, to make sure they get camera time and get their messages heard at any chance they can, while providing entertainment fulfilling media obligations. Or on their own volition.

Ultimately, this is the Canadian boxing scene taking a step in the right direction. More viewership, big deals and sponsorships can only mean good things.
