Tyson Fury: Camp changes are never a good sign toward the end of the career.

Why is it now that the x2 World Heavyweight Champion, previous holder of the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO and present holder of the WBC Heavyweight Belt (2 defenses) wants to change his camp again this late in his career?

There are always many questions, that fans, media, and even other fighters raise, after seeing certain fighters, but especially champs switch camps. Fighters change for many reasons, be it for having gone on losing streaks or have had personal problems with the trainers, training partners or people within their gyms and camps, or just need a fresh change of partners and tutelage. We have also heard some fighters leaving due to jealousy, like we hear is the case in the Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harrison situation, but has not been confirmed directly from either girl. So when a reigning and defending champion switches camps after such great changes to his game as a whole. What really happened?

What is that made Fury leave such a great coach?

Well this isn’t a strange occurance for Fury because he actually left his coach in 2019. Ben Davison (below) the man who was responsible for getting him back into the ring after his long lay off from depression fueled with alcohol and drugs (periodically). He whipped Fury into fighting shape for the Deontay Wilder Fight helping him lose all that weight. Fury

The only bizarre thing in this situation is that the split ended in the build up to the Wilder rematch. So Fury switched camps in the midst of his training camp for the rematch. But we must add that Davison did come out and say that it was a friendly departure and wished Fury goodluck. Fury again was undefeated and not showing any wrinkles in his game at the time.

Now we are 2022 and Tyson Fury is literally having the most prolific time in his career, better than ever with highlight knockouts, a drastic change (positively) in his fighting style as of changing from Davison to Emmanuel (rip) and Javon (aka Sugar Hill) Steward at Kronk Gym. Javon was Fury’s head coach and the late great Emmanuel (before he passed), uncle to Javon is the founder of the Kronk Gym and the “Kronk” style of fighting. Where Kronk fighters are known to be aggressive fighters. As we can see from Fury’s most recent fights after switching over in 2020. Emmanuel was not Fury’s head coach as he did pass on, but he did state that he knew, “Tyson Fury was going to become Champion”.

Conclusion!

We are not going to sit here and disrespect fighters by name or by stating what we have not seen yet from Tyson Fury. But as fight fans we do know and have all seen that when there are changes of camps this late into the career, and this sudden, it does not look good and usually does not go well. But Tyson has been here before. Even in his amateur record he bounced between gyms in Ireland and England and has changed camps in the middle of training camp from Davison to Steward.

We roll by the motto “if it aint broke don’t fix it”.

This is something as fans we are just going to have to watch play out.
