Tyson Fury Admits He Isn’t Ready To Retire Just Yet

The Gypsy King a.k.a Tyson Fury will be back in the ring December 3rd facing off against Derek Chisora for the third time.

The third on the 3rd, hopfully being the last!

Talking today to Ariel Helwani, host of The MMA Hour, he specified that it only took him 4 months to realize that he wasn’t ready to retire after his last scheduled bout where he won by KO against his fellow Englishman Dillian Whyte on April 23rd of this year where he announced it at a packed Wembley stadium.

Tyson, at the young age of 34  specified that he wanted to be with his family and enjoy the laurels of his success and live a “normal life”, as he puts it. But then quickly realized he is an “abnormal alien” and thrives while “training camp for a fight”, he says.

Fury talked about some inspirations to keep competing by watching boxer Larry Holmes “kicking ass”.

Holmes was still boxing up until he was 52. Thats 18 more years of boxing! And we don’t think Fury is extending his career that long!

But you never know with him because he said in his interview that “I ain’t ready to let it go [boxing], I can’t let it go, it’s a very difficult thing to let go“. He added, “for now, I’m not ready to let it go“.

Fury explained how he had a lot going on, such as training other fighters who were in camp, filming a Netlix documentary, and writing a book and “thought I could be happy with what I done”, he said to Ariel.

But then talked about how despite him being busy with all that, he was starting to get depressed again telling the Ariel, “I had a lot of stuff going on but it wasnt fulfilling for me“.

It was like someone put me in a room and sucked all the oxygen out of it“, was the way he described not competing.

He wrapped up this subject saying, “I am very happy and comfortable doing what I do best, that’s boxing and training“.

And “for the short distant future, I need to box“.

Boxing is always better when we have an good entertainer and a great boxer, so for now, the sport is in a great place when The Gypsy King graces the ring.
