A lot of fighters would disappear into the shadows after a loss. But for an undefeated fighter to lose their 0 it would be rather “embarassing”.
But there is nothing embarassing about losing, and there is especially nothing embarassing about losing a fight!
One fear that almost everybody in the world has is getting beat up in front of your family and friends, not too mention the whole world as well.
The guilt and hit to the pride that does to some is enough to turn them into mutes, but not for most fighters and certainly not Sean Brady.
Now number 8 ranked welterweight Sean Brady, after going on a 15 fight win streak received his first professional loss coming via TKO in the 2nd round to Belal Muhammad.
Just over a week after his fight, today Brady appeared on MMA Hour to talk about his loss.
Brady talked a lot how he felt going into that fight mentally and his emotionally.
Sean touched on how he felt mentally finished going into that fight, saying, “I questioned myself” and having dreams that he lost, not to Belal, but just in general. Saying that he “beat himself” before he even got into the octagon.
He stated that when he was finished in the 2nd round, he could have kept going saying, “I should have grabbed him” and “I mentally f**cking froze“.
Sean ultimately said that he wasn’t confident in his abilities and his training. Which is shocking, and we must give kudos because not many fighters will admit that they didn’t do enough in preparation.
After all this Sean admitted gladly that he was not ready for a number 1 contender spot if he won, or even a title shot and that this loss was a blessing.
Brady, despite all this admitted he did cry, and that the first day, which was the hardest he said. But weirdly said the second that the fight was over he felt “an immediate sense of relief“. This was clearly reflected in his jovial attitude in his interview.
Brady is looking to get out of his “comfort zone” as he put it and looking to train with new guys, but not leave his team.
It is really nice to see that it seems like Sean Brady has discovered a new part of his character.
