Freedom rings for the former welterweight and middleweight champion.
Talking to Danny Segura of MMA Junkie, GSP hinted at a few things that the fans did not see coming, and him being out of his UFC contract was one of them.
During his brief stint friday as a promoter for the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva boxing match, GSP talked about how he liked the promoting side of things, and that maybe he should “shave his head like Dana White“. He didn’t specify any furure promoting opportunities but says he enjoys it in comparison to the fighting side of things.
St-Pierre being able to promote the event is due finally, to him being officially out of his contract with the UFC.
GSP when asked if promoting was just a one-time thing stated, “well im in the entertainment business you know what I mean? And fighting, being a professional athlete is part of being an entertainer“.
Not exactly specifying if he will continue this new venture, playing his cards close to his chest.
But did say this, “now I have the freedom to do what I wanna do, when I wanna do, with who I want to do“.
With all this being said, the fans feel like there was so much left on the table with his career and have been calling him back to compete, but it just doesn’t seem like the former double champ has it anymore saying,
“my days of trying to prove I’m the strongest man in the world are gone, my heart isn’t there anymore“.
With all this confusion in GSP’s statements, he did finally express when asked about an exhibition match that, “I could do something, but it needs to be something that is well organized too (Triller is out the question), and maybe something that the risk of injuries are to the minimum“.
What do you want to see?
