Moldovian UFC heavyweight Serghei Spivac gets the biggest win of his career submitting Houstons own Derrick Lewis in the 1st round.
In the wee hours of the morning of February 5th, the main-event took place at the UFC Apex, at about 3am. That is when the 2 heavy hitters entered the octagon
Lewis was coming into this one with a heavy heart and his career weighing on his mind. Coming off 2 knockout losses to Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich, he wanted to prove that he can still hang with the top of the division.
But the young, up-and-coming Spivac had other plans for the Houston native.
Lewis was more eager to engage in this fight like his last two. Which could of been the reason he got caught and knocked out in the last bouts. Whereas in his other fights he is rather patient sitting back waiting for the shot.
But Spivac, quick to engage as well, using his professional Judo experience and repeatedly taking Lewis down over-and-over until he was tired of standing back up from the onslaught of wrestling.
Spivac sunk in the arm-triangle, submitting Lewis and getting the biggest win of his career thus far.
Spivac is now 16-3 with 7 KO’s, 7 submissions and 2 decisions.
