Rodriguez Rebounds From Last Loss With A Stunning KO
UFC’s Fight Night, Grasso vs. Araujo prelims started of with a bout in the welterweight division between Pete “Dead Game” Rodriguez and Mike Jackson.
Rodriguez who is a power puncher with finishes in all of his wins, and Jackson, a professional boxer with a boxing record of 4-0 was sure to be an exciting fight on paper. And delivered in the flesh!
Rodriguez wasted no time when the bell rang getting right in Jackson’s face throwing heavy combinations to the body then head. Jackson, who was the 2011 Golden Gloves Champ, and has a professional boxing record of 4-0 with all knockouts, was getting out-classed by Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was constantly switching stances trying to throw his opponent off caught Jackson early, dropping him with a right to the body.
Jackson, who was able to scramble to his feet could not escape the pressure from Rodriguez, and combinations. Throwing heavy leather, Rodriguez caught Jackson with a right, causing Jackson dip his head. Unfortunately as he dipped his head, he walked right into a knee from Rodriguez putting him out cold.
Rodriguez, who was on a winning streak of all knockouts in the first round, gets another one, and shows that despite his last loss, he is a viable contender in the welterweight division. Adding to his new win record 6-1-0 of first round finishes.
