Coker replied,
“Yeah that’s very interesting because, he wasn’t there in the hayday. I got to see those fights. A lot of you know that has been in the martial arts business a long time. I started working for K-1 in 1999. So I got to see all the great Fights Pride FC and K-1. And Khabib has never sen the production and the fans and he was freaking out he was telling me this is unbelievable–he kept tellin’ me this is unbelievable I had no idea that something like this was happening in Japan”.
Coker said he went on to explain to him more about the history of Mixed Martial Arts saying,
“I said you know this is where it started, this is where MMA and martial arts combat, it started here, it grew throughout the rest of the world, but there was a time when Japan had the best fighters in the world, the best production in the world, the best promotion in the word. That’s why the UFC bought it right, sooo, just like my company StrikeForce, I think we had a great roster, great events. They bought it”.
He admitted to being a bit in awe explaining to arguably one of the best MMA athletes in the world about the history of MMA.
“It’s so ironic to sit here with Khabib whose like freaking out about the production and the staging, just the pagentry, but he was really impressed, but it was just so weird because he was not here when it was even bigger than it is today. I am happy he was here, I think he wa extremely excited and I think he will be taking about Japanese MMA and Rizin for a really long time”.
