Welterweight contender Gilbert Burns attended UFC 282 as a spectator and spoke after with the media regarding his upcoming fight with Neil Magny, which will be Co-Main at UFC 283 in Brazil.
Despite his upcoming fight, many of the questions were directed at his fight that was suppose to happen at MSG in November and on the 10th of December at UFC 282 against Jorge Masvidal.
Masvidal, who has been turning down fights left and right claiming that he is looking for the “right fight” claimed he was not ready for those dates.
He also said that he was never “officially” offered the fight. The two did agree to the fight over twitter.

Burns was asked about getting on the card in Rio De Janeiro, but explained that he wanted to fight this year because he only fought once and tried for UFC 281 and 282 but Masvidal turned down the fight.
Burns in return called Masvidal a “liar” about not being offered the fight stating,
“He was lying forsure, or Hunter and the UFC were lying. I don’t believe they were. But they offered me Jorge. Do you want to fight Jorge? That was the question, you wanna fight Jorge Masvidal at MSG? You guys know what I am gonna say. I say forsure”
Burns explained how the UFC told him that he [Masvidal] was not ready for then, which corroborates with Masvidal’s side of the story he explained with Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
Then they offered them to fight in Brazil only to be told the fight is off, because Masvidal isn’t ready again for then.
Burns thinks Masvidal was “cooking him along” knowing he wasn’t going to fight.
Burns stated,
“I guess it’s a very hard fight for him, he’s coming from 3 losses to fight me, it’s a good reward if he beats me, IF. But it is a big risk I think”.
Gilbert ended that subject saying he is not going to chase the fight with Jorge.
