Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith speaking on the BYM Podcast to the “Believers” and amongst themselves aren’t impressed with Jake Pauls new avenue he is going down as a promoter/fighter for the PFL’s Super Series.
The Super Series offering fighters a never before seen advantage in the MMA world where fighters get to share 50-50 PPV revenue with the promotion. As well they get their own sponsorship monetization. Paul will also be on their board as Head of Fighter Advocacy.
The two seem to suspect that Jake Paul is “turning this avenue” as they put it is because the fight with Tyron Woodley (rematch) and the fight with Anderson Silva didn’t sell anything so he is going to need some form of other attention to bring in the views.
Paul vs. Woodley 2 sold 65000 PPVs and Paul vs Silva did between 200 and 300 thousand.
Bisping also touched on him being a promoter and a fighter within the league.
“I believe being a promoter there is some conflict of interest there as well”.
Bisping told Anthony Smith.
This could be compared to, but not the exact same situation we heard from Tony Ferguson with him and his beef with Conor McGregor. Where McGregor being an Owner in his management (Paradigm Sports) company where Tony Ferguson was managed along Conor.
Creating a conflict of interest as an owner and a competitor in the same promotion. As when Ferguson should have got the title shot but McGregor ended up getting it against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Bisping, who was the mot vocal about his disdain for the new signing “sub division” in the PFL said facetiously,
“How does that work because he is advocating for more money for all the fighters but only in the division that I’m in. All you other guys fighting for 20-20 , you carry on doing that, but I’m going to get 50% of the revenue minimum”.
Anthony Smith then chimed in,
“It’s the same shit it’s other big PPV stars like Youtube guys, again, he is giving more money to people who already got money”.
In the Super Fight Series on PPV that Jake Paul is apart of is separate from the other fighters fighting on the roster. Hence the name, the series is for Super Fights. For ex, McGregor vs. Mayweather was a super fight in Boxing.
The regular PFL roster will still be fighting on their same contracts.
